Though temperatures remain a little chilly and the blustery wind doesn’t want to let go of its grip, Spring has finally arrived in Ohio. Many kids are busily preparing for the spring sport season. Parents are purchasing those must have running cleats or just the perfect bat to ensure plenty of homeruns. We do everything we can to protect them but all too often we overlook protecting their eyes. To quote the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, when fitted properly, appropriate eye protection can reduce the risk of eye injuries by at least 90%.
In Ohio, we are incredibly fortunate to have a grant program that funds prescription googles to those in need. The Play Hard Don’t Blink program is funded through the Ohio Department of Health Save our Sight fund. This sports safety program is administered by the Ohio Ophthalmological Society and it’s their goal to outfit as many kids as possible.
Though income qualifications are part of the application process, the household income is fairly generous to meet qualifications. This year they have streamlined the process to make the application process more efficient.
If you have any questions about the program please feel free to contact our office and one of our opticians will be glad to help you. (419) 334-8121. Or you may click apply
Have a great time enjoying the outdoors and remember to protect those eyes.
